Course Memo

In this course, students develop their abilities to interpret the rich and complex traditions joined together in the book of Isaiah. We will consider the book as a whole but focus closely on chapters 40-66 (often called Second and Third Isaiah) as a reflection of the on-going interpretation of the Isaiah tradition. Students will complete an interpretative essay on a select passage from Isaiah; analyze and respond to a sermon or teaching source based on Isaiah; and prepare a final project that applies the fruits of our study to worship or another ministerial context.
